PDCE Sausage Week* Tuesday
*Now officially endorsed by Stumpgrinders Society!!!
"Laws, like sausages, cease to inspire respect in proportion as we know how they are made." -Otto Von Bismarck
I don't know how that relates to sausage electricity, but nonetheless the video below is dedicated to my good friend Milo the Mad Scientist.

The Human Condition Hits The Road, or SoCal is Bearable In Small Doses
Some of you may be aware that I am the mandolin specialist in a neo-string band called The Human Condition.

We recently played 3 shows with the legendary Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

After a rowdy night at Hotel Utah (never seen that many people there for a show!), we piled into the 4Runner and hauled ass down to The Mint in LA, where we learned that Bon Jovi pretty much ripped off his entire act from this guy.
As we left Los Angeles, we noticed that a ladybug had hitched a ride with us. She sat on the gearshift, occasionally crawling around the console to check stuff out...and ended up coming all the way back to San Francisco with us, where I carefully placed her on a plant in Nate's front yard.

Next stop: Winston's in Ocean Beach, which is basically the Berkeley of San Diego. Jerry's crowd was in full effect, and THC had the honor of being blessed by a 'mermaid' before the show. On the way through La Jolla, we spotted Mark's new favorite business concept:

After the set, we checked out the Jackmormons for a while and then hopped back in the truck and hauled ass back to SF in record time: 7.5 hours from San Diego to San Francisco!
Favorite part of the tour: Jerry Joseph's bitchin' Hamas t-shirt. It's so punk rock to buy things online that might land you on the Homeland Security watchlist!

pDice Holiday Throwdown LEFTOVERS

Last night's Prankfest at Madrone totally kicked ass! Thanks to everyone who came out, performed, brought a friend or pretended to understand whatever the hell we were doing to our equipment at any given time!
Bigup the evil Prankster genius Milo The Mad Scientist and his crazy circuit-bent devices...we premiered several new instruments last night, including the light-sensitive Quellotone keyboard and Shidalou's StoryTimeFreakStrips.
I think it goes without saying (but I'ma say it anyway) that Moquel and Audio Angel's SWEET POTATO PIE was a freakin' HIT with the crowd...so sweet, so pie-ful, so free!
Thanks again to everyone who performed: Mochipet, Mike Boo, Puzzle, Rob D, DJ CAM$$$, Audio Angel, Prof. Bang and Reverend Moquel...and to Jeremy the lonely bartender, who had to deal with all of our demanding, drunk-ass friends!
Coming up in 2009: MORE MAYHEM!

The Bad Hand hits #182 on CMJ Radio 200

Startling evidence has recently come to light indicating that numerous people enjoy The Bad Hand's music. This week's CMJ Radio 200 chart placed The Bad Hand at #182. Despite solid radio play in the last few weeks, The Bad Hand was kept out of the Top 20 chart positions by meddlesome bands such as TV On The Radio, Thievery Corporation and Oasis. Songs from The Bad Hand's new album, 'in this line wish you happiness,' have been getting coast-to-coast airtime on indie and college stations, including LA's Indie 103, KEXP-Seattle, WRDP-Chicago, KJHK in Kansas, WRAS-Atlanta and WURV in Burlington, Vermont. Most of the music directors and DJs at the stations in question appear startled (or even offended) by their own enjoyment of the band's music, but this isn't stopping them from repeatedly subjecting the unsuspecting public to The Bad Hand.

Cop Quiz, or Behind The Blue Door

Most people who do anything even remotely sketchy can spot the 5-0 a mile away, even without the swirling America Lights on top of the Crown Vic.
What about when the gunbelt comes off and Officer Freedom hits the streets as a civilian? Can Smokey ever truly re-assimilate into the civilian population? My new favorite website, Officer Dot Com, has efficiently and objectively fashioned a means of determining the relative social blendability of individual Defenders Of (Certain)Rights. Grab a cop and make him take this QUIZ! It's fun and uses lots of small, brusque words! (Insert donut joke here)
